PowerDirector Not Importing MKV Files- Solution

From Cyberlink official website, we can know that MKV format is supported by PowerDirector. But, you find still many problems while importing MKV files to PowerDirector. For example, when you import MKV into Power Director and then drag it into the timeline and only the video shows up in the timeline. The MKV file works fine using VLC and Windows Media Player, both audio and video. In fact, MKV is a container format (like MOV, AVI)which contains data encoded using various compression and encoding schemes. If your MKV files won't be supported by PowerDirector, it may contain the incompatible codec for PD. And this article just aims to solve the MKV to CyberLink PowerDirector importing and editing problem.

To fix the incompatible issue, the easy workaround is to transcode MKV to a more editing-friendly format for PowerDirector, such as MPEG-2. Here we recommend professional yet easy-to-use app Dimo Video Converter Ultimate to finish the task. This program features high efficiency and seamless conversion. With it, you can do batch conversion from MOV, AVCHD, MTS, AVI, MXF, VOB, MP4 and more to PowerDirector editing-friendly MPEG-2 codec without quality loss. Meanwhile, this video app enables you to change MKV to editable format for Pinnacle Studio, Adobe Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas, Windows Movie Maker, Avid Studio, Magix Movie Edit Pro and more other NLEs. If you are Mac user, please turn to Dimo Video Converter Ultimate for Mac.
